He’s been called the Orthodox Clarence Darrow, a defender of Jewish liberties that makes him not only one of the top attorneys in the United States, but perhaps its foremost legal advocate for religious freedom. Considered a leading US constitutional lawyer, Nathan Lewin has argued 27 cases in front of the Supreme Court of the United States, and was ranked number 2 out of 50 in Washington’s Best Lawyers by Washingtonian Magazine. His clients include former US President Richard Nixon, actress Jodie Foster, Attorney General Edwin Meese II, John Lennon, Barnett Bank, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Yale 5 and a host of Jewish national organizations, amongst many others.
He also served as Visiting Professor at the Harvard Law School, as Adjunct Professor of Constitutional Law at Georgetown Law School, and at the University of Chicago Law School. He teaches Supreme Court litigation at Columbia Law School and Jewish Civil Law at George Washington University Law School.
