As we get ready to close the door on 2020, we’re asking you to open your hearts.
What a year this has been! We all got sideswiped with this monster called Covid, and the restrictions that followed, which froze life and joy as we knew it. So many were left disconnected, vulnerable, alone. Suddenly, everything that we knew about life had to be reimagined: community, holidays and living itself.
As part of a people that are no stranger to adversity, we know that in the very darkness lies the potential for the greatest light, in the very separation lies the hope of the greatest unity, in the most difficult of challenges lies the greatest possibility. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work, with innovation and creativity, with resilience and purpose: No challenge could be too great, no barrier too high.
Together, we made the impossible possible. Pre-high holiday drive-ins with acrobats and music and shofar and the world's only Drive In Challah bake, Hebrew school in the park, social distanced and masked, Chanukah trucks and pop up Menorahs everywhere, everyday. Outdoor concerts, Care packages for shut ins and teens engaged as never, ever before. Prayer services never interrupted, outdoors, on the green, and on zoom. A never ending stream of educational opportunities, classes, and continuous lectures with thousands participating in the comfort of their homes. Together, we redefined community, creativity, resilience and hope.
Young and old, teenagers and retirees, parents and kids. You showed up. You helped make it happen. You showed us that together, we can, that together, we are better.
Together, we will overcome any challenge.
Please give. Please give generously.
Together, we are stronger.
