Barry Landy firm’s senior litigator at Spiegel Sohmer, and has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1975. As a litigator, Barry has extensive experience in a wide range of matters, including real estate issues, partnership break-ups, commercial and tax matters, estate and trust issues, as well as media law litigation for an extensive range of clients. Barry Landy has great empathy and an approach that combines academic excellence with a hard-charging litigation style. A wealth of practical experience has allowed him to be involved with and resolve the thorniest, most hotly contested issues. Barry’s modus operandi is to apply a proactive approach, ensuring problems are addressed in advance and resolved with compassion, as efficiently as possible. Barry is highly respected and has pleaded in both French and English before all levels of court in Quebec, including the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Québec, and the Court of Québec, as well as before federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Tax Court of Canada. Barry Landy has also pleaded before the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, both at the Trial Division and the Court of Appeal.

David Franklin, Ad.E. graduated from McGill Law School in 1959 and joined the law firm of Franklin & Franklin in Montreal, which was founded by his father M.H. Franklin Q.C. in 1925, joining his brother Martin Franklin (retired) and currently Jonathan Franklin, B.Comm, LLC. The firm is a general commercial and business law firm and David concentrates on international commercial debt recovery.
David has given lectures in over twenty countries and has written numerous articles on international commercial debt recovery. He has published the following books, “ International Commercial Debt Collection” 2007, and co-author with Steve Harms “ International Commercial Secured Transactions” 2010, Thomson Carswell, and co-author with Martin Franklin of “ Introduction to Québec Law”, Copp-Clark and “ Commercial Debt Collection in Canada: A Legal Handbook” 2012, Thomson Reuters.

Leonard Waxman graduated from McGill University Law School in 1969 and he was called to the Bar in June 1970. He practices exclusively in the areas of criminal, penal and disciplinary law. Leonard’s practice includes all types of criminal litigation and appeals. He also assists clients with cross-border issues relating to criminal and regulatory matters. His name appears on a referral list given by the U.S. Consulate to American citizens encountering legal problems of a criminal or penal nature in Quebec.

Yossi Shanowitz is founder and director of Chabad of Westmount, known simply as “Rabbi Yossi”. Rabbi Yossi brings his vast knowledge in Jewish law, ethics and Jewish philosophy, as well as his warm and personal approach to teaching. Rabbi Yossi received his BA in Jewish studies from the Rabbinical College of America and his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva Tomche Tmimim in New York.
