Harvard University

While he is known for defending clients such as Anatoly Sharansky, Claus von Below, O.J. Simpson, Michael Milken and Mike Tyson, he continues to represent numerous indigent defendants and takes half of his cases pro bono. He is a vocal defender of civil liberties and the constitution through his media appearances. Dershowitz is also a prolific writer and best selling author, with over 40 works published.

Since 1985, Rosalie Jukier has been a professor in McGill's Faculty of Law where she teaches in both the civil and common law legal traditions, primarily in the areas of Contractual Obligations and Judicial Institutions and Civil Procedure. Professor Jukier's research focuses on comparative Contract Law (particularly the remedy of Specific Performance and the intersection of religious rights and private contract law), the impact of legal traditions and mixed legal systems on Procedural Law and Judicial Methodology, as well as on Legal Pedagogy.

Barry Landy has extensive experience in a wide range of matters, including real estate issues, partnership break-ups, commercial and tax matters, estate and trust issues, as well as media law litigation for an extensive range of clients. Barry is highly respected and has pleaded in both French and English before all levels of court in Quebec, including the Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Québec, and the Court of Québec, as well as before federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and the Tax Court of Canada. Barry Landy has also pleaded before the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador, both at the Trial Division and the Court of Appeal.

Michael Bergman is a veteran legal strategist, a tenacious negotiator, and a seasoned litigator. Going on forty years of law practice, Michael Bergman has pleaded before the trial and appellate Courts of Québec, Ontario, the trial and appellate Federal Courts, the Supreme Court of Canada, the United States District Court and diverse administrative bodies. Mr. Bergman has represented clients before official committees of the Parliament of Canada and the National Assembly of Québec. He has steered and coordinated international litigation between several countries.

Marie-Claude spent many years working for a global accounting firm, assisting a diverse clientele of individuals and corporations on matters ranging from federal and provincial income tax to consumption taxes. A seasoned litigator, she has represented major clients before the Court of Québec, the Federal Court, the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. She regularly provides legal opinions commensurate with her expertise in tax law. She also has significant experience in tax compliance matters, including audits conducted by the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec as well as the subsequent administrative objection process.

Justine Benoit is a partner in the Tax Group at Fasken Law. She has extensive experience in corporate taxation, and her practice focuses primarily on transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate reorganization. Justine takes a modern and proactive approach on taxation, closely monitoring the most recent changes and emerging practices in tax law. She keeps close tabs on areas of concern in the business community and adjusts her practice in order to keep up with the ever-evolving tax trends. Her clients range from small to medium sized companies, and also include large business conglomerates.

Yossi Shanowitz received his MA Talmudic Law in 1989 from the RCA. He is an accredited JLI instructor on Law and Ethics and lectures extensively on the comparative law & ethics. His recent book, Starting with Sinai, explores the intersection between ethics and Jewish law and lore.
