David is a skilled tax litigator who represents clients at every stage of the tax assessment challenge process. He practices in various areas of Quebec and Canadian taxation, particularly in matters relating to income taxes, goods and services taxes (GST) and Québec sales taxes (QST).

 

To protect his clients’ interests, he identifies all available legal avenues, negotiates with tax authorities and pleads before provincial and federal courts. David advises and represents a diverse range of individuals, corporations, partnerships and trusts. His litigation experience covers alternative income estimation methods (net worth, cash flow, purchase analysis), real estate, restoration and directors’ liability.

Aubie is the head of the firm’s Real Estate Transactions team. He advises businesses of all sizes and industries on their commercial activities and real estate needs. He represents developers, investors, owners, landlords and tenants in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing, purchase and sale of property assets both in and outside Québec.

 

Aubie also has extensive experience with business law, including due diligence and limited partnership agreements. He negotiates, drafts and reviews a wide range of commercial agreements for financial institutions, banks and private lenders. He also puts his vast knowledge to use in the establishment of securities on personal and real property, as well as in the context of financing, loans and factoring arrangements.

 

His successful career is built on his commitment to partner closely with clients in order to develop the best legal strategies, reach desired outcomes and protect their interests.Aubie is a prolific philanthropist in the Montréal community. He participates in numerous fundraising activities and has served on the board of directors of several non-profit organizations, including the Israel Cancer Research Fund.

Michael Hollander is a lawyer practicing in Montreal with 15 years’ experience in both civil and commercial litigation and transactional work.

 

Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of advocating before all levels of Courts and tribunals, gaining extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution. He put his litigation experience to work in embracing a diverse practice encompassing corporate and transactional work.

 

Michael recently co-founded Choueke Hollander LLP in July 2023.

Fred’s been an IP, technology, and transactional lawyer and entrepreneur, focusing on the needs of founders, for over 15 years. He holds honor degrees in civil and common law from the University of Ottawa, and graduate law degrees in international law from Leiden University, and in comparative law from McGill University.

 

He’s been an editor and writer for leading peer-reviewed law journals, and has lectured on IP and technology law topics at McGill University Law School – where he was named Meredith Memorial scholar in IP law – at Recording Arts Canada, and for continuing legal education courses in Canada and the US. He’s also been a featured speaker for leading thought leadership organizations, such as the Lord Reading Law Society and the International Economic Forum for the Americas.

 

He once cofounded a music streaming venture that counted Bob Dylan among its shareholders, and was named to the Canadian Advisory Committee on the GDPR, which advises the Canadian Parliament on data protection and privacy matters.

 

Over the course of his career, he’s helped founders secure and enforce their rights, as well as scale and sell their businesses. He’s helped them close deals with some of the largest companies in the world, including Microsoft, Costco, Facebook, Salesforce, Disney, Verizon, Pixar, Universal Music, and many more.

Yossi Shanowitz received his MA Talmudic Law in 1989 from the RCA. He is an accredited JLI instructor on Law and Ethics and lectures extensively on comparative law & ethics.
